12 December 2014 – Infinity SDC and its customer Janet have walked away with two prestigious awards at this year’s Datacentre Dynamics EMEA Awards 2014, for Data Centre Blueprints and Innovation in the Mega-Data Centre.
The UK’s national research and education network Janet, provided by Jisc, won the Data Centre Blueprints award with a design produced by Infinity for a shared data centre supporting medical and academic research.
As well as housing the IT of a consortium of six of the UK’s most successful universities for scientific and academic research, the judges were highly impressed with the design which incorporates multiple resilience levels and power densities from 4kW to 30kW cooled via an innovative indirect evaporative cooling system. The data centre supports a diversity of applications from enterprise to high performance computing.
In addition, Infinity won the award for Innovation in the Mega-Data Centre with its Jisc shared data centre. The design of this data centre was developed using Infinity’s “Infinite Data Centre” product and uses modular designs that support multiple demands in a single hall whilst maintaining efficiency.
Stuart Sutton, CEO at Infinity SDC, said, “This is an incredibly important achievement for us. We are delighted to accept these awards for our collaboration and development of this nationally important facility, which is the world’s first shared data centre for medical and academic research.
“The technology used will further the UK’s position as a global leader in academic and medical research and the work we carry out in these sectors can be life changing, and we are proud to be a part of that.”
The Datacentre Dynamics Awards are the leading awards for the data centre industry recognising innovation, leadership and ‘out of the box’ thinking. With 15 established award categories, the awards celebrate data centre projects of all sizes, across all sectors. For more information visit http://www.datacenterdynamics.com/awards
More than 600 industry professionals attended the awards ceremony at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel which recognises leadership, innovation, best practice and successes in the EMEA data centre market.
Paul Mangles, Global Awards Manager for the Datacentre Dynamics Awards, said, “As our recent London Converged conference demonstrated, EMEA has some of the richest data centre insight in the world. While the market continues expanding and the opportunities for sales in the market also grow, the buying process for products and services has become increasingly complex and opaque. Succeeding in this industry is no mean feat and it’s important to recognise the businesses that are tackling the issues brought on by technology’s rapid evolution. These Awards are designed to do just that.
“There are stories of real success and achievement in the industry that need to be made public and this Awards programme is central to that process; it is about the organisations, their teams and the individuals who make this industry what it is today.”
